GOVERNOR MATAWALLE AWARDS 15 MILLION NAIRA CASH, POLITICAL APPOINTMENTS TO WINNERS OF NATIONAL QUR'ANIC RECITATION COMPETITION



His Excellency, the Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon. Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle MON (Shattiman Sakkwato) has today awarded 15 million naira cash to the 11 state's winners of the just concluded National Qur'anic Recitation Competition which held in Kano.



The money was presented to the winners based on their categories and performance where the overall national winner who hailed from Zamfara, Muhammad Auwal Gusau got five million naira.



The remaining 10 participants received one million naira each just as the overall winner was appointed Senior Special Assistant and the 10 others Special Assistants.



Governor Matawalle who handed the money to the Chairman of the state Musabaqa Standing Committee which coached the participants, Alhaji Ibrahim Ruwan Dorowa through his Director-General Protocol Matters, Alhaji Aliyu Sani said the gesture was in appreciation of the sterling performance of the state's contingent as well as a source of encouragement to Muslim youth in the state in the teaching and learning of the Holy Qur'an.



Shattiman Sakkwato who visibly happy over the feat attained by the participating winners who he also hosted at today's breaking of Ramadan fast at his residence noted that the winners have once again made the state proud after 11 years since the last time Zamfara held the first position.



He used the forum to call on Islamic scholars and those involved in the Musabaqa and other Da'awa to continue to join hands with the government and the good people of the state in praying for a lasting solution and an end to all forms of criminalities in the state in particular and the nation in general.



Matawalle who said even the founder of Zamfara was a great scholar pointed  out that the state is blessed and enjoys greatness and wonders urging the people to continue to pray for good leaders who will take the state to greatness.



He recalled that the state was in dire need of a leader who could save it when some bad elements went to the extent of desecreting the Holy Qur'an and with his coming as governor, such terrible act stopped, calling on the people not to relent in the prayers so that better days will not sieze.



The governor then promised to continue to do his best in protecting the Holy Qur'an and encouraging the Islamic teaching and learning to achieve better society.



Earlier, the Vice-chairman of the state Musabaqa Standing Committee, Mallam Yusuf Abdullahi Mafara, who spoke on behalf of the chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Ruwan Dorowa thanked the governor for inviting the members to Ramadan break fast as well as honouring the participants with such cash awards for the first time.



He commended the full commitment and support given to the committee by the governor saying it largely facilitated the successes recorded by the contingent that earned the state the exhalted first position.



Similarly, the state's Chairman of the National Center for Qur'anic Reciters, Mallam Yassir Abdullahi Dalla-Dalla thanked the governor for appointing over sixty memorizers in his administration confirming the governor's commitment in this regard.



He also prayed for the success of the administration noting that Matawalle has remained focussed in keeping his promises to the people and urged him not to be distracted


The breakfast was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bala Bello Maru, Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Chief of Staff Government House,Col Bala Mande rtd, Deputy Chief of Staff Government, Dr Bashir Mohammed Maru and Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon Muhammad Maiturare Sadiq, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries and Directors General among others.
