GOV. MATAWALLE APPROVES THE RELEASE OF OVER 380 MILLION NAIRA AS SCHOLARSHIP, BEGINS PAYMENTS OF AL-IKIMAH UNIVERSITY AND CRESCENT UNIVERSITY DEBTS.
His Excellency, the Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon.Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle MON (Shattiman Sakkwato) has approved the release of over 380 Million Naira scholarship for Zamfara indigenes studying in and outside Nigerian universities for the 2020/2021 academic session.
This is in furtherance of His Excellency’s declaration of the state of emergency on education on the commencement of his administration and the resolve of the state government to improve on science and technology related courses for indigent Zamfara students to study at home and abroad with ease.
Under the 2020/2021 academic sessioln, His Excellency has approved and released N186, 699, 600 as full payment for 67 Medical and Para-medical students currently going into their second year of studies in Sudan, another N24,500,000 for 23 scholars in India and N56,463,440 for 92 students studying in Cyprus in addition to 19 students studying online from China institutions as they could not go there due to the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
Similarly, after a fact finding visit to ascertain the state’s level of indebtedness left behind by the past administration for Zamfara state students at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara state and Crescent University, Abeokuta in Ogun state which stood at about N200 million, the governor approved the release of N41.2 million in that regard, while N19million representing the payment of N500,000 each to 38 Nigerian Law School students for the 2019/2020 was fully paid.
Approval and release of verification funds to screen/verify the Zamfara indigines studying in various public institutions of higher learning in Nigeria has been given by the Governor to acertain the real data of students for the immediate release of their bursary which was not paid in the eight years tenure of the immediate past administration will commence in order to give the numerious less priviledged students the needed educational support both at home and abroad.
Recall that in 2019 His Excellency the Executive Governor and Barden Hausa, approved and paid over N460,000,000.00 as TUITION FEES, ACCOMODATION FEES AND UPKEEP ALLOWANCES the 2019/2020 academic session for the 200 qualified candidates to study MBBS, NURSING, PARAMEDICALS and ENGINEERING.
