Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has intensified his engagement with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara as political activities build ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In the latest development, Matawalle donated a brand-new Lexus SUV to the Zamfara State APC Chairman, Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji. The vehicle was presented on Matawalle’s behalf by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Yazid Shehu Danfulani, at the minister’s private residence in Abuja on September 25.
According to statements surrounding the presentation, the donation was intended to assist the state party chairman with mobility and logistical challenges, particularly in reaching different parts of Zamfara. Matawalle's representatives said the vehicle would support the party's mobilisation activities across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development comes amid increased political activity within the Zamfara APC, with party leaders and prominent political figures engaging supporters and stakeholders ahead of the next electoral cycle. Matawalle has also been assigned a role in the APC's 2027 Presidential Campaign Council as Deputy Director, Security and Intelligence I.
Matawalle has continued to publicly express support for the APC's political activities and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 campaign. His recent engagement with the Zamfara party leadership therefore adds to his visible role in the party's mobilisation efforts in the state.
Receiving the vehicle, Moyi expressed appreciation for the gesture and said it would be used to support the party's ongoing mobilisation activities. He also described the Zamfara APC as united and prepared for the forthcoming elections. Those statements represent the position of the party leadership and should be understood in that political context.
