As the 2027 general elections draw closer, the Northwest APC Support Group has expressed concern over what it described as the continuous and consistent failure of Senator Abdul Aziz Yari to engage critical party stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the development, Malam Auwal Batagarawa said the party may have made a serious political mistake by appointing Senator Yari to lead the presidential campaign, citing what he described as Yari’s history of political failures.
“I think our party has made a grave political mistake by appointing someone like Yari, who has a history of political failure, to pilot the campaign for the presidential victory,” Batagarawa said.
Similarly, one of the APC women supporters from Argungu, Hajiya Fatima Shehu Lawal, expressed concern over the alleged non-inclusion of critical APC women stakeholders from the Northwest in Senator Abdul Aziz Yari’s Mobilization Committee.
According to Fatima, the exclusion could negatively affect the party’s support and mobilization efforts across the Northern region ahead of the 2027 elections.
It was also reported that some members of the APC North-Central Young Professionals had threatened to defect to another political party if Senator Abdul Aziz Yari remains the Director-General of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.
The development has reportedly generated concerns among some party members, who fear that the appointment could affect the APC’s political strength in parts of the Northern region.
The APC, as the ruling political party, is expected to intensify its mobilization and stakeholder engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, concerns have continued to emerge from some party supporters regarding Senator Yari’s leadership of the campaign, particularly in relation to allegations and previous investigations involving him.
